The intrinsic muscles inside your foot are responsible for correct movement patterns. If your feet do not function correctly, your entire body will start to compensate, which could easily injure your muscles and tendons over time.
Are your toes meant to be spread?
Healthy feet have wide spread out toes (illustration left). The big toe should be able to function separate from the other toes. The big toe is your anker for movement and direction. The wider the spread of your toes, the bigger your base of support
Separating your toes not only helps stretch the surrounding structures but also allows for increased blood flow to the area, leading to improved recovery and healing.
What do toes symbolize?
The second toe is known as the Air toe or the communication toe. The middle toe is the Fire toe – the 'just to do it,' or not, toe. The fourth toe is the Water toe, capturing Relationship stories. The little toe is the Earth toe, revealing, on the left – trust, and on the right – prosperity and abundance factors.
What organ is connected to toes?
Reflex areas of central organs such as the spinal column and stomach are in both feet; the organs on the right side of the body (e.g. the liver) are on the right foot, those on the left side (e.g. the spleen) are on the left foot; lungs and kidneys are on both feet; the toes correspond with the brain and its organs.
