Moderna pays US government $400M 'catch-up payment' under new COVID-19 vaccine license

Not long after Moderna kicked off its COVID-19 vaccine launch, questions started swirling around the origins of the company's mRNA technology and the intellectual property rights to its vaccines. Now, Moderna and the U.S. government are putting one dispute to bed.
In Moderna's earnings release Thursday, the company said it recently paid the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) a $400 million "catch-up payment" under a new royalty-bearing license agreement between the parties.
The payment is part of a license agreement between Moderna and NIAID inked late last year. With the deal, Moderna is paying the U.S. government to access “certain patent rights concerning stabilizing prefusion coronavirus spike proteins,” Moderna Chief Financial Officer Jamie Mock said on a conference call Thursday.
Going forward, Moderna agreed to pay NIAID “low single-digit royalties” on COVID-19 vaccine sales, Mock added.
This agreement does not put Moderna out of the woods on the patent litigation front. Even after this deal, the vaccine maker is fighting with the U.S. National Institutes of Health over the origins of the core technology in the vaccine, The New York Times points out.
Within the industry, the company is facing patent suits from mRNA rivals Pfizer and BioNTech, plus a separate case from Arbutus and Roivant’s Genevant Sciences. One case between Pfizer and Moderna is heading to trial in London next April, Reuters reported last week.
Moderna pulled down around $36 billion in COVID-19 vaccine sales across 2021 and 2022, its two big launch years. While the $400 million payment represents only around 1% of the company's total COVID-19 vaccine sales over that span, the lump-sum nature of the "catch-up payment" drove up Moderna's fourth quarter's costs.
The payment was a "key driver" in pushing the company's cost of sales—as a proportion of total sales—to 39% in the fourth quarter, Mock said. That compared with 14% during the same period in 2021.
Aside from the license payment, Moderna also suffered financially from demand declines last year. For all of 2022, the company recorded around $2.8 billion in charges related to slouching demand. That figure included a $1.3 billion charge for inventory write-downs plus $725 million for contract cancellations.
The company also paid $776 million related to unused manufacturing capacity and CDMO charges.

I updated my phone now the left side of my letters won’t work my battery is used now.

My hairdresser got breast cancer where she kept her phone. Her doctor said it's not the type of cancer we normally find in that area. And that they believed it was from her phone because they are seeing a lot of women with this particular cancer in women who kept their phone in their bra.

Of course they listening I’ll talk out loud about a product with someone at work open fb on break what’s the first thing in the news feed an add for that product, starting think they add the mic and camera indicator to make us feel more at easy, also they now scan your photos and texts depending on certain key words .

That is true really every time update is automatically asked , battery degrading I noticed.

I knew it was a scam to start with because when they went to G4 saying the network was better you still have the same amount of dropped calls and everything else when it was three G so them going to 5G saying oh it'll make everything better with the phone system it's all the stand because they're using the frequency for something else not to make phones work better that's just what they want you to believe.

My mother got brain aneurism because she slept with the phone under the pillow to hear when her sister is calling her. She had a brain scan and when I checked what she was doing she had her phone under the pillow and she slept on one side exactly on the side where she had the aneurism. My cousin used to keep the phone in a pocket close to his belly like a gun. He ended up in hospital. And these were old phones. I purchased lately an emf device checking emf emitted by phone laptops roku and 5g internet in my house. Is scary. Bluetooth create dangerous emf that affect the brain. These technologies are not safe. They are ot checked to be safe they are cash cow for corporations that sell them and government that controls you. Think of how many people stayed in bed during covid with a laptop or tablet or a cellphone on their belly.

Abandoneros

Earth is inhabited underground in gigantic caves whose area is a great more than the surface land area, by a race of people called abandoneros or descendants of an abandoned group of people who were unable to leave the planet some 12000 or more years ago in a general exodus made necessary by the discovery that the sun had commenced hurling death-dealing radiations over the entire planet and the entire solar system.

These radiations were radioactive and lodged in the body being taken largely via drinking water which accumulated radioactive particles and breathed into the lungs with the dust of the air which was also contaminated and to a lesser degree from the sunlight itself.

The race living on earth at that time named Titans and Atlans wanted to flee the earth and migrate to a necontaminated planet in dark space near to no sun at all.

The decision came after a fruitless attempt to escape the deadly radiation by moving from the surface of the earth into the interior in great cavernous hollowed out artificially or modified from large existing natural caverns.

Up to this point, Atlans and Titans lived virtually forever at least for thousands of years, but now with the radioactivity in their bones, they suffered radioactive poisoning which they claimed was the cause of the disease called age.

Since there were not enough spaceships nor enough time to evacuate the entire population only favoured groups escaped and the less fortunate or already diseases were abandoned and came to be called abandondero.

Because the sun has health-giving rays to which these people living in the caves had no access, they degenerated into midgets like idiots incapable of any constructive reasonings.

They are called defo short for detrimental or degenerate robots.

There were others fewer in number, who with the use of machines and chemicals and beneficial rays managed to starve off much of the mental degenerative effect of their way of life. And they retained a higher mental calibre and had a life span of 50 years.

Down to the centuries, the deros became more numerous and teros were decimated by the constant attacks of deros.

These deros have access to the wonderful machines of the ancients still in working order since they were built almost indestructible and with these machines, they can bedevil both tero and surface people.

Among these machines are marvellous vision rays that can penetrate miles of solid rock, picking up scenes without the need for a broadcast unit, transportation by teleportation instantaneously from one point to another although this did not require a sending and receiving ser, mental machines which caused seemingly solid illusions dreams, hypnotic compulsions( which account for the urge to kill of some surface people).

They have death rays, spaceships, and giant rockets that traverse the upper air, ground vehicles of tremendous power, machines of revitalizing sex known as “stim” ( in which some of these degenerates spend their entire life and that diform their bodies), ben rays which heal and restore the bodies.

The surface people who now inhabit Earth are the descendants of those abandondero who were not even able to get access to the life-saving caverns. Most of them died off but other developed a resistance to the sun dealt dealing rays and managed to live almost as long on average as the cavern people and ‘today slightly longer. They had an advantage they did not go insane from the lack of the beneficial rays of the sun as did the deros.

However, the surface people lost all memory of their forefathers except for vague legends of Atlantis and Lemuria and Giants, while they knew only of the deros or devils who torture them in their sleep bring misfortune and foster most of the evil in men’s minds.

Today the dero still exist in the caves and many of our troubles are caused by them. Some wars are fostered by them, some of our air accidents are the result of the destructive rays aimed at planes by idiots whose only delight is death and torture; even our nightmares can be the result of their “dreammech” trained on us in our sleep

Lizard Civilization on Earth

Thise lizard people were not destroyed by enemies nor by unavoidable cataclysms, they were the only one responsible for their dooms.

So their collective memory tends to carry this karma along and pass it to other species they live close to, like humanity replicating the same detrimental behaviors.

Because many if the souls if reptilians are trapped into karmic jails, they fed on external energies and draw the souls they can into their collective hellish realities, to sustain their false sense of superiority.

Memory Cells

The portion of the brain that contains memory is composed of billions of individual cells. They differ from other cells in the same way that bone cells differ from skin cells.

They have their specific purpose and this is to record experience. How do they operate? There are two conditions of a memory cell on, is what we might be called a virgin cell the other a recorded cell.

We can see them as the memory bank of a computer. They are imprinted electromagnetically with the event. This imprint is clocked into the cell like a sound is locked into a magnetic tape or something like an image is locked into a photographic emulsion. Or perhaps an electric switch has been thrown into the on position and locked into place.

In a relay system, these switches can be activated so that a signal can be routed through a circuit. Whatever information has been recorded on the memory cell bank of the computer can be recalled by making the proper contacts and activating the proper circuit. The memory bank is coded and when we punch out the code the computer responds by selecting the information we want and presenting it as a readout.

Is the same way with the memory cells. When we experience something the five senses send their message to the brain. These are recorded on the virgin cells which are then developed and fixed so that the exposed cell is now a permanent record of that particular bit of information.

They are all part of a circuit which is capable of reproducing the entire event from sight to sound to smell to touch to taste.

We can recall this event if we can activate the circuit. Some of the methods are by coding in the sense of sequence, continuity, relationship and many other methods.

Taken all together they are a process of recall. The words that suggest the original event can activate the memory circuit.

Once on the circuit, you can remember all the details.

Now I command all of my agreements I have made with myself or anything else to play out powerlessness in any way and aby agreements I made that were born from these agreements to come forward now so I can sense the energetic ties that bind. Most will feel constructions, sadness anger as the energies of these agreements pile up.

3. Now afirm all of these agreements are no longer appropriate for my life and I choose for all of this ebergy to be purified and perfected NOW.

4. Now affirm that everything I have made agreements with to play out powerlessness in any way, that there is more to life than that and if you would like assistance then say yes now and help will be given. All those that choose to still play out powerlessness in any way to leave my entirety now and never return.

5. At this time is important to restore your personal power and remove foreign energy you have picked up from your interactions with powerlessness by saying.

I command personal power restoration.

This means any foreign energy is to be removed from both parties purified returned and integrated back to the appropriate place.

6. Now afirm I choose to live life 100% in eternal life alignment without powerlessness. Notice the energies that fill you and surround you. Numbers

The number 13 has been subjected to unlucky traits because of the Knights Templar being arrested under order of King Philip IV, on Friday 13th October,1307. Before that the last supper included 13 people counting Jesus, with the obvious betrayal of Judas Iscariot. Other supposed unlucky or evil associations are the Lunar Cults as women have 13 cycles a year. But for me 13 cycles a year denotes life and luck. The age of knowing is 13 (Judaism)..13 is a Fibonacci number and forms a Pythagorean triple. The number 1 is individuality, achievement and optimism. The number 3 is your spiritual ability to create. So if 1 & 3 are blended (13) it allows our ability to manifest desires by aligning our source energy. 1+3=4 which is the material world or Earth. Therefore, if we are grounded our spiritual ability will flourish. If we are still learning then our spiritual ability will continue to create and focus on the material world. This is a very positive number which the Ascended Masters around you will reveal on occasion to allow the understanding that the Universe is always ready to help with their guidance. In conjunction with a Full Moon , its a time of spiritual completion and harvest.

Rem

One of the two standard units used to measure the dose equivalent (or effective dose), which combines the amount of energy (from any type of ionizing radiation that is deposited in human tissue), along with the medical effects of the given type of radiation.

rem, unit of radiation dosage (such as from X rays) applied to humans. Derived from the phrase Roentgen equivalent man, the rem is now defined as the dosage in rads that will cause the same amount of biological injury as one rad of X rays or gamma rays.

How many rems Can a human survive?

At doses between 300 and 400 rem and without medical treatment, there is a 50% chance that a person will die within 60 days. With proper medical care, however, some people exposed to 1,000 rem could survive.

The roentgen equivalent man (rem)^[1]^[2] is a CGS unit of equivalent dose, effective dose, and committed dose, which are dose measures used to estimate potential health effects of low levels of ionizing radiation on the human body.

The rem has been defined since 1976 as equal to 0.01 sievert, which is the more commonly used SI unit outside the United States. Earlier definitions going back to 1945 were derived from the roentgen unit, which was named after Wilhelm Röntgen, a German scientist who discovered X-rays. The unit name is misleading, since 1 roentgen actually deposits about 0.96 rem in soft biological tissue, when all weighting factors equal unity. Older units of rem following other definitions are up to 17% smaller than the modern rem.

Doses greater than 100 rem received over a short time period are likely to cause acute radiation syndrome (ARS), possibly leading to death within weeks if left untreated. Note that the quantities that are measured in rem were not designed to be correlated to ARS symptoms. The absorbed dose, measured in rad, is a better indicator of ARS.^[3]^{: 592–593}

A rem is a large dose of radiation, so the millirem (mrem), which is one thousandth of a rem, is often used for the dosages commonly encountered, such as the amount of radiation received from medical x-rays and background sources.

Ionizing radiation has deterministic and stochastic effects on human health. The deterministic effects that can lead to acute radiation syndrome only occur in the case of high doses (> ~10 rad or > 0.1 Gy) and high dose rates (> ~10 rad/h or > 0.1 Gy/h). A model of deterministic risk would require different weighting factors (not yet established) than are used in the calculation of equivalent and effective dose. To avoid confusion, deterministic effects are normally compared to absorbed dose in units of rad, not rem.^{[citation needed]}

Stochastic effects are those that occur randomly, such as radiation-induced cancer. The consensus of the nuclear industry, nuclear regulators, and governments, is that the incidence of cancers caused by ionizing radiation can be modeled as increasing linearly with effective dose at a rate of 0.055% per rem (5.5%/Sv).^[8] Individual studies, alternate models, and earlier versions of the industry consensus have produced other risk estimates scattered around this consensus model. There is general agreement that the risk is much higher for infants and fetuses than adults, higher for the middle-aged than for seniors, and higher for women than for men, though there is no quantitative consensus about this.^[9]^[10] There is much less data, and much more controversy, regarding the possibility of cardiac and teratogenic effects, and the modelling of internal dose.^[11]

The ICRP recommends limiting artificial irradiation of the public to an average of 100 mrem (1 mSv) of effective dose per year, not including medical and occupational exposures.^[8] For comparison, radiation levels inside the United States Capitol are 85 mrem/yr (0.85 mSv/yr), close to the regulatory limit, because of the uranium content of the granite structure.

History

The concept of the rem first appeared in literature in 1945^[13] and was given its first definition in 1947.^[14] The definition was refined in 1950 as "that dose of any ionizing radiation which produces a relevant biological effect equal to that produced by one roentgen of high-voltage x-radiation."^[15] Using data available at the time, the rem was variously evaluated as 83, 93, or 95 erg/gram.^[16] Along with the introduction of the rad in 1953, the ICRP decided to continue the use of the rem. The US National Committee on Radiation Protection and Measurements noted in 1954 that this effectively implied an increase in the magnitude of the rem to match the rad (100 erg/gram).^[17] The ICRP officially adopted the rem as the unit of equivalent dose in 1962 to measure the way different types of radiation distribute energy in tissue and began recommending values of relative biological effectiveness (RBE) for various types of radiation.^{[citation needed]} In practice, the unit of rem was used to denote that an RBE factor had been applied to a number which was originally in units of rad or roentgen.

The International Committee for Weights and Measures (CIPM) adopted the sievert in 1980 but never accepted the use of the rem. The NIST recognizes that this unit is outside the SI but temporarily accepts its use in the U.S. with the SI.^[7] The rem remains in widespread use as an industry standard in the U.S.^[18] The United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission still permits the use of the units curie, rad, and rem alongside SI units
